I don’t have much more to add. I need more pictures. You’ve seen this one

Drove a nearly identical one (but with an automatic) as a rental during the summer. I really liked it, apart from the horrible trans calibration. That cal ruined the entire car.

I am amazed that manufacturers do that to some cars. Recently, I drove a Juke Nismo RS AWD and it was ruined with the CVT. FWD model has a stick and I presume is much more fun to drive.

I just don’t think Ford has the best trans calibrations. The rental Fusion I had last summer wasn’t good either. Same or similar trans as well.

Gimmie some input plox. How are you liking it going from a compact hot hatch? Driving, handling, feel, sound? Compared to any previous Mustang you’ve driven?

Strange. I drove a V6 auto rental and it seemed fine. Maybe the trans isn’t calibrated to deal with the torque curve of the 2.3?

I think you are right. Oddly enough, the 4spd mated to the 2.5 in older Altimas I think is one of the best mapped automatics i’ve driven even though only a 4spd, atleast for the way I drive. On the flipside of the coin, the current Nissan CVTs I’ve driven really are frustrating - drove a Murano recently and it was the worst modern transmission i’ve driven...

So, the last time I spoke to someone at the blue oval about it, that engine is running a whole heap of boost. (20+ psi?) So, probably one part torque curve, one part lag (of which there is a bit). Basically, it always felt like the transmission was configured (gear, converter lockup) for what the engine was doing 3 seconds earlier.
When I was being a bit irresponsible, though, it was a friggin hoot.

I test drove an auto. The entire car feels significantly better with a stick

I’m loving it. The overall quality is just so much better than my sonic was. The car feels very special to own and drive. The handling seems alright, I really haven’t had any opportunity to push it. I enjoy the sound symposer: the car sounds like nothing outside, there’s a turbo spool but not really any exhaust noise but inside there’s a nice resounding growl. I was thinking about how it compares to older Mustangs earlier, I drove a 14 GT recently and the only thought I had was it just feels better. It feels much closer to my Mom’s Audi A5 than the older Miustang did. It's just flat out a nice car. With my trim level it's a straight up luxury car.

I almost bought a juke nismo with a stick and FWD. holy god was it fun to drive. Think mini-like handling, but with a quirky body and tech.

Can confirm. Ford auto trans calibrations are garbage.

I heavily considered this over the FR-S. I know I made the practical mistake, but I’m enjoying the track time with the slow 86.
Still, every time I see one around town, it’s like I chose the wrong lady. “What if?”

I’ve driven the FRS, it’s a pretty good car. If you’ve got good roads by you it was the better choice. Here in Kansas I spend so much time on long straight roads that the Mustang is more fun.

Yeah, located in Texas, I’m < 3 hours from 3 tracks. Surprisingly, I see a lot of Camaros at my trackdays and not as many Mustangs...

I’m not surprised. The old Mustangs don’t make for that good of a track car.
